Why We Called It DICE

By Muhammad Talal

Why we call it DICE

A name should mean more than something that looks good on a logo.

When Muhammad Talal first thought about DICE, the idea was built around something very simple: a dice has multiple sides, and every side has its own value. No side exists without a purpose. Depending on the situation, a different side comes into play. That became the philosophy behind DICE Studio.

Every Side Has Its Own Strength

Creativity is often treated like one discipline. It isn't. An interior space solves a different problem than a film. A mural creates a different kind of impact than a digital campaign. Photography communicates differently from a documentary. A workshop creates something that a static piece of content simply cannot. None of these disciplines is more important than the other — they are simply different sides of the same creative process.

At DICE, our work moves across:

  • Creative Interiors & Spaces — turning environments into experiences
  • Murals & Art — transforming surfaces into stories
  • Digital Content — bringing ideas into motion
  • Photography & Videography — capturing moments, people and perspectives
  • Documentaries & Storytelling — giving ideas and experiences a voice
  • Workshops & Experiences — turning creativity into participation

The medium changes. The thinking behind it doesn't.

One Idea. Many Directions.

The mistake is starting with the medium. "We need a video." "We need a mural." "We need social media content." "We need to redesign this space." Sometimes that is exactly what the project needs. Sometimes it isn't.

At DICE, we prefer to start one step earlier: What are we actually trying to make people see, understand, feel or do?

Once that is clear, the right creative direction becomes easier to identify. An idea might begin as a physical installation and continue digitally. A documentary might become a series of short-form stories. An interior might use art, graphic design, lighting and storytelling together to completely change how a person experiences a space. Creativity doesn't have to stay inside one category. And neither do we.

Purpose Before Limits

Being multidisciplinary is not about doing everything just because we can — that would create more noise, not better work. The real value is having the freedom to choose the right discipline for the idea.

Sometimes the answer is a camera. Sometimes it is a wall. Sometimes it is a room. Sometimes it is a conversation. Sometimes it is a combination of all of them. The purpose comes first. The medium follows.

That distinction matters because good creative work is not defined by how many things were added to it. It is defined by whether every decision has a reason to exist.

Different Sides. One Vision.

A dice may have different faces, but it remains one object. That is how we think about DICE Studio. Our disciplines may look different on the surface, but they work toward the same goal: creating experiences that people remember.

Whether someone walks into a space, watches a film, interacts with an installation, sees a photograph or participates in a workshop, we are interested in the point where an idea becomes something tangible. Something you can see. Something you can experience. Something that stays with you. That shared thinking is what connects every side of DICE.

The Right Move Is Not Always the Obvious One

A dice is also associated with movement — you roll it because something needs to happen next. That idea eventually became one of the simplest expressions of our philosophy: Roll the Right Move.

For us, it does not mean leaving creativity to chance. It means the opposite — understanding the possibilities in front of you and knowing which side needs to lead.

Not every brand needs another campaign. Not every empty wall needs another logo. Not every story needs a 60-second reel. And not every creative problem should be solved in the most familiar way. Sometimes the strongest move is the one nobody considered at the beginning. That is where DICE works best — at the intersection of disciplines, ideas and possibilities.

Why DICE?

Because creativity has more than one side. Because every discipline brings a different strength. Because one idea can move in several directions. And because the best creative solution comes from knowing which move to make next.

Different sides. One vision.
